QR print size calculator
The rule of thumb
A QR code should be about a tenth of the scanning distance: 30 cm away → 3 cm wide; 2 m away → 20 cm. That holds for a simple code (about 25×25 modules).
Why your code may need more
More content means more, smaller modules. A long vCard or link, or a logo in the middle, needs a bigger print to scan from the same distance. Our calculator uses your code’s real module count.
Print it sharp
Use SVG or PDF for print, or a PNG of at least 300 pixels per inch at the final size. Keep the white margin (quiet zone) around the code.
Frequently asked questions
What is the smallest QR I can print?
About 2 cm for short links scanned up close; vCards and logos need 2.5–3 cm or more.
Does colour matter?
Yes: dark code on a light background, with strong contrast. Our live check warns you if contrast is low.
What about billboards?
Same rule: at 10 m the code needs to be about 1 m wide.
